How should I edit my contacts?
To simplify your database management, any contacts in your OutboundEngine account brought into the system with Contact Sync can only be edited in the Contact Source (ex: Contactually, Gmail, etc). These contacts will be marked in the Contacts section of your OutboundEngine account in the Source column.
What happens with each sync process?
Each sync process will update your OutboundEngine contact list to match your Contact Source (Contactually, Gmail, etc) to ensure that your contact list is up to date. The sync will:
- Add a new email contact in OutboundEngine for any new contacts saved in your Contact Source
- Update the data for an existing email contact in OutboundEngine based on updates made to your Contact Source
- Remove any email contacts from OutboundEngine that you have archived/deleted from your Contact Source
Can I sync my contacts manually?
You can initiate a sync to occur manually in the Contact Settings of your OutboundEngine account.
How often does Contactually/Gmail sync with OutboundEngine?
Once you have connected your OutboundEngine account with a Contact Source, we will automatically sync your contacts prior to each email newsletter to ensure that the most up-to-date contact information is used when your campaigns are sent. You can view the upcoming schedule of campaigns in the Campaigns section of your account.
What if I do not want to market to some of my Gmail/Contactually contacts?
If you do not wish to send marketing emails to a contact pulled into your OutboundEngine account through Contact Sync, update the Contact Status to Disabled to prevent any future marketing emails from being sent to that contact.
What happens if I disconnect OutboundEngine from Contactually or Gmail?
After you disconnect Contact Sync, automatic updates to your OutboundEngine contact list will stop. All contacts previously synced will remain in your list, but the Contact Source will no longer be associated with those email contacts. If Contact Sync is disconnected, you will gain the ability to edit/disable/delete contacts directly within your OutboundEngine account that were previously only editable in the Contact Source.
